These poems from Montana light, represent fifty years of healing, rejoicing in life, grieving the death of friends and students, answering questions about life and humanity’s place in the universe. It started when I realized I had to heal myself on my own after escaping high school in one piece. I discovered the local counter culture of Las Vegas, where I attended high school which was made up of all the musicians, dancers, actors and stage people who worked in the major hotels. Almost any weekend one could witness splendid performances of string quartets in the library, great theater in the community theatre, or great jazz performances like the free concerts at in my high school’s “Little Theater”. Throughout this time, I hiked many miles around the mountains to the west Las Vegas, and started writing poetry.
The title, Montara Light, is a lighthouse South of San Francisco. I have sailed past it a hundred or more times, many at night. It is the title of one of the poems in this collection.
Please leave comments about what you love, hate or are indifferent about. I am preparing to publish my second collection of poems and would like to hear any constructive criticism.
